For World Girl, Christina combines her passion for fashion photography with her interest in the multitude of cultures around the world. Growing up Greek-American and surrounded by friends from a wide array of backgrounds, the idea of connecting with her own cultural identity as well as learning about others' has always been fascinating. She has captured images that explore the act of classifying others in terms of race and culture through physical features, traditional attire, and landscape settings. No two of these attributes within one image correspond to a country of the same region. Obvious photo editing comes into play to combine the beautiful young women dressed in both modern and traditional costume with borrowed images of unique and distant backdrops. Each backlit photograph reaches out to the viewer, asserting its contradictory nature and forcing one to put into place each aspect of the image.
